The Eee PC 1000HE uses a newer Intel Atom CPU — the N280 which runs at 1.66GHz (667MHz FSB compared the to 533MHz of the N270) as well as an HD-capable Intel GN40 chipset for smoother video playback.

The more enticing feature is the 8700mAh battery that comes with it. Asus claims up to 9.5 hours but even if you get 7 or 8 hours in real life, that’s still way better. And it’s not one of those heavy extended version so the whole netbook still weighs on the lighter side of 3.2 lbs.

Asus also improved the keyboard to 92% standard as well as using the chiclet-type keys found on the Macbook and the Sony Vaio P. There’s a 160 HDD, WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth included.
